We did a lot of walking in the city, but I think we did more eating!!! Here’s a sneak peak on our favorite places.
The Spotted Pig
This unique, hipster restaurant located on Greenwich St in West Village was our first stop on Friday afternoon for a late lunch. I heard great reviews on this celeb-spotting place from friends so we were thrilled to walk in at 2:45pm and not have to wait for a table.. only downfall was the limited menu options from 3-5. We both got the burger and can say it’s one of the best burgers we’ve ever had! Paired with the shoe-string fries and appetizer of roasted almonds, we were stuffed with a great tasting meal!
Benito II in Little Italy: We loved everything about this quaint, authentic Italian restaurant.. We dined Saturday night on classic lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, caesar salad, and stuffed artichokes, (red wine by the bottle only) on the candle lit red and white checker table next to a large Italian family celebrating a birthday. I really felt like I was dining in Italy!
Pershing Square for breakfast/brunch is a must! It is located on 42nd Street
directly across from Grand Central Terminal’s main entrance and underneath the Park Avenue Viaduct. Zac went with the classic New Yorker Breakfast and I got the goat cheese, spinach omelet and latte.. recommend them both! The place looks tiny from the front, but when you enter you feel like you are dining in a huge beautiful train car. I loved the atmosphere!
Saks Fifth Avenue Cafe was an absolute treat on Sunday. The hostess walked us to our table with a perfect view of Rockefeller Center, where we got engaged just the night before! It was a late lunch and the salmon was wonderful paired with the black rice, spinach, and Sauvignon Blanc.
Adrienne’s Pizza Bar in the Financial District was a recommendation from our NYC resident friend, Scott, and it did not disappoint! We ate there Monday before leaving town, and I’m not going to lie.. we put a HUGE dent in that pepperoni, sausage, mushroom pizza pie pictured above. I took some gluten digestion pills and dealt with my consequences.. it was worth every bite :)
