Moroccan Oil a day
keeps dry split-ends away!

I use a pump of Moroccan Oil and brush thru with my Marilyn boar bristle brush everyday. The bristles help distribute your scalps natural oil and moroccan oil to hydrate dry ends. Only use a boar bristle brush on dry hair, it is not for wet hair!

My Top 10 Beauty Gift Ideas for Christmas 2011

The “Black Friday” shopping frenzy has officially begun in many stores, but I’ll be sleeping in and watching the Razorbacks play tomorrow :)  As we kick off the Christmas shopping of 2011, I thought I would post some of my favorite gift ideas in the beloved beauty department.

1.  Clarisonic is a perfect gift idea for any special lady.  I’ve not only seen better cleansing results, but my skin is firmer!

2. Moroccan Oil is my favorite product to invest in, especially for dry or over processed hair.  Available only by professionals.  If you are in Fayetteville, come to Studio 8 to purchase!

3. NeuLash eyelash fortifying serum has dramatically helped my lashes in growing.  It takes about 4-6 weeks to see results, but they are amazing!  Available at Revive Day Spa

4. The Wet Brush is the ultimate detangling tool for any hair type! Available online or at Studio 8.

5. I can quickly see Elie Saab Perfume with notes of orange blossom, jasmine, patchouli, rose, cedar wood becoming my favorite or signature fragrance.

6. Hot Shot Tools Curling Wand to create those loose glamorous waves!  Available at Sally’s Beauty Supply.  Click Here for my tutorial for achieving loose waves.

7.  Essie Matte About You top coat gives your polish a smooth matte finish instantly! Genius.

8.  Bath Junkie bath products, the only place I know of where you can customize your own fragrance and color!  I’m in love with their exfoliating salt scrub and body dessert lotion spray.

9. Sally Hanson Salon Effects could be your fun answer to the trendy nail art we are seeing all over Pinterest!  They are inexpensive, easy to use and last longer than traditional nail polish!

10.  Kevin Murphy Color Bug is the ultimate gift idea for the adventurous hair color lover in your family.  The Color Bug is a chalk like product that creates high definition color that washes out with shampoo.  Click here for my tutorial video on how to use Color Bug.  Only sold by salon professionals so check out a salon in your area!

Just a few fun ideas for every price range!  Happy shopping and enjoy this Christmas Season!

Blessings,

Kelly

By popular request, I filmed another tutorial video on creating loose waves with the curling iron.. this time using the spring of the barrel instead of just wrapping.

Key Points:

Always start with a heat protectant, such as Moroccan Oil.

I also use some BB Does It All Spray for additional heat protection and hold.

Insert the curling iron at the top of the strand and work it down.. instead of inserting at the bottom and rolling up. VERY important if you want a consistent wave.

A 1” barrel size curling iron gives the best results even for very long hair.

Adjust the heat and size of your strands based on how thick/fine your hair is.  Coarser dense hair can withstand more heat and smaller sections, while fine hair requires less heat and may use larger sections.

Use a mirror to check the back of your hair for any strands you may have missed.

For better hold, wait for your strands to cool a little bit before finger combing or brushing them out.

Finish up with your favorite hairspray.. mine of course is Davines Crystal Fixative (for wizards ;))

Day 18/21: Loose Waves Tutorial

Today I was ambitious and attempted my first tutorial video showing the ease of creating loose beachy waves!  Many of my clients have asked for ideas and tips!

I always start with a couple drops of Moroccan Oil on my dry hair before applying heat.

Best results with a 1” curling iron.

I like to finish with a medium hold hairspray like Davines Crystal Fixative.

Day 16/21: Side Fishtail

Today I have the privilege of styling hair for Maude Boutique’s photoshoot with some of the top bloggers in our area: Ashes of Laughter, Blonde Ambition, Smith and Emma, NWA Motherload, and Tulip Louise!!! I’ll post pics later :). I did manage to sneak my own style in there too..

Today I threw in some Moroccan Oil and loose waves to start. Then pinned back my long bangs with a bobby pin. From there, I took 2 large pieces of hair and fishtail braided then along the side. As always, I hid the elastic with my own hair and finished with my favorite hairspray, Davines No 7 Crystal Fixative Lacquer For Wizards.

Day 13/21: scarf headband

Another fun accessory to change up your look is a silk scarf! Today I opted for a more boho look with the scarf tied around the outside of my head instead of under my hair. I worked with my waves from yesterday and added some Moroccan Oil to the ends for shine.. Outta the house in no time!
