Our Wedding.. The Invitations

I’ve always believed the stationary sets the initial tone of how your guests interpret your wedding.. everything from the layout, design and information can translate the style of wedding so the guests know how formal or informal an event it is.  Zac and I wanted our guests to feel the garden tone of our Sunday afternoon wedding.  Thankfully Zac is an amazing graphic designer and used his side business, The Visual Shoppe, to design and print our invitations!  We had a great time working on them together, and more creative reign over the project.  Our venue, The Garden Room, has specific parking directions so we made a business card with our venue address info, parking instructions and the time so our guests could stick it in their wallet or car.

We chose a linen paper for casual elegance, and baby blue pearl finish envelopes from envelopes.com.

We also wanted to personalize our envelopes with PhotoStamps and a custom return address stamp from Etsy Shop, Purple Lemon Designs!

Our wedding had a dessert bar, so for fun we asked our wedding guests to tell us their favorite dessert on our RSVP cards..

We also used the picture of my engagement ring as the PhotoStamp for the response cards!  We received so many compliments on the PhotoStamps and had people say, “we hated to throw the envelope away!”.. so, we went with a postcard for our thank you notes with another photo!  I love the monogram and flowers Zac put on the back of the cards.

I’m so glad we had some left over for a keepsake :)

Our Wedding.. Bridesmaids Dresses

I REALLY wish I could go back to this place with these girls right now.. it was so beautiful! And the perfect fun photo op ;)  Our decorator Keith Taylor truly made my vision of a garden party come to life.

The overall feel of our wedding was a romantic garden setting with classic colors.  I love the use of texture with materials and color and wanted the bridesmaids’ dresses to contribute to that, and also be a fit/style that they prefer.  All the dresses came from local Fayetteville favorite, Maude Boutique.

Chloe chose a beige ruffle halter neck that hit right above the knees.

We added the flower sash using a flower pin I scored at Hobby Lobby and a ribbon sash Chloe got at JoAnn’s Fabric.

Taylor wore a light pink dress with a lace ivory overlay.  The cap sleeves were precious on her!

We also added a sash to Taylor’s dress with a flower from Hobby Lobby and sash from JoAnn’s.

Veronica’s dress brought a little more color to the palette with the light pink, gray and yellow flowers.

I loved the scallop bottom silhouette of the dress.

My gorgeous attendants all wore shades of coral to pink.

I’m pretty sure Michael Jackson was playing here :)

And the precious flowergirl, our Shih Tzu Sophie!

Our Wedding.. The Dress

I married my best friend 6 months ago and we both agree we love each other more now than on July 8th.  It truly is amazing!

Today I’m going to highlight the dress..  My wedding dress is a Maggie Sottero that I purchased from The Briar Patch as it was going out of business.  It came as a huge blessing considering it was almost everything I wanted in a dress, required little alterations, and was a complete steal of a price.  Maria at Lethal Lure in Rogers did my alterations and we were so pleased with the results!! Very fast turn around and reasonable price.

Alencon lace with a sweetheart neckline sweeping down to a low back. The rhinestone detailing along the neckline and button closure in the back added more texture to the dress.  The only alteration I made was to take the shape from an A-line to a trumpet fit.

The ruching around the waist accentuated and slimmed me down through the middle.

We got married on a hot summer day, so I loved that my dress was long and elegant without being bulky.  The length and chapel length train were perfect for a Sunday afternoon wedding in the summer.

I loved the buttons up the back, but my bridesmaids may not have ;)

Our Wedding.. How it began

Its about time to share some of the photos, vendors and highlights of our wedding this past July.  Since our recent feature in CitiScapes, I’ve been asked and motivated to share more!  Today I will start with how it began… the rings!

Zac gifted me with 2 plane tickets to NYC on Christmas 2011, and my heart honestly skipped a beat hoping the trip would be complete with a proposal.  I tried not to get too carried away, especially since I trusted that it would be coming soon and we were already talking very seriously about marriage.  He did a very good job throwing me off during the trip.. so much that on the 2nd night of our trip, when he took me to the Top of the Rock and pulled out a gorgeous engagement ring, I was so shocked all I could respond with was “Thank you!!!”  Hahaha, needless to say, that meant YES!

Here we are at Top of The Rock in NYC right after Zac proposed on February 4th, 2012!  It was the most romantic proposal I could have dreamed of.. followed by a stroll down to The Plaza for celebratory champagne..

Zac purchased my engagement ring (well, the one he proposed with…) at Sam’s Club here in Fayetteville.  After some sizing complications and unsatisfactory customer service, we decided it was too sentimental and needed to be purchased from a local jeweler that truly cared.  We shopped around a little bit and ended up choosing a ring almost identical at Romance Diamond Co. here in Fayetteville!  They were wonderful to work with and we both feel secure in the jewelry and their ability to service us.

And my wedding band, ahhh, how I love it!  It’s an infinity style design, gold, also from Romance Diamond Co.. and I love how the yellow gold looks with the white gold of my engagement ring.  I always have on mixed metals.

I still get giddy thinking about that cold night in February when Zac first asked me to share my life with him.. one of the best days of my life!

Taking a trip down wedding day memory lane.. Great way to organize and keepsake the cards from your wedding/birthday/Christmas.. Punch a hole in the top corner and put them on a binder ring. Then find a cute box to stash them in like these faux book boxes from @shopriffraff! #keepsake #wedding #diy #sentimental

Wedding Styles

Our very own Christina got married this past weekend and I was honored to style some of her lovely maids.

soft waves and a twisted 1/2 back, one-side style on the lovely fashion blogger, Anna, AKA Tulip Louise.

Jax wanted a fishtail braid, but we wanted to make sure it stayed soft and elegant.  So, we braided it around the back of her head and secured it amidst her waves.

We wanted to create volume and height with Kara’s lovely hair, all while keeping it mostly down and wavy.. I love the texture of the twisted back sides into the loose bun.

Sometimes blunt bangs can be a challenge to work with..  We chose loose waves and a braided headband to soften Michelle’s bangs and keep symmetry.

Here is a pic of our lovely head table on the stage at the Garden Room where I married my best friend a few weeks ago.  It truly was magical.  I’m so thankful for our amazing designer and friend, Keith Taylor, for creating this space!  After the ceremony, Keith transformed the stage into our head “tea party inspired” table.. He brought every idea and picture I had collected to life!  We will have more pics to come over the next few months as they roll in.. I am especially excited to see the ones from our photographer, Kaity Whitman with The Photo Love.
